Mr. Kabananiye Janvier

With over 10 years of experience in the energy sector, I am passionate about developing and implementing innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of Rwanda's power grid. As the Director of Research and Development at Rwanda Energy Group (REG), I lead a team of engineers and researchers who are committed to advancing the utility's corporate strategy and vision through cutting-edge research and technology adoption. In my current role, I oversee the alignment of R&D activities with the utility's business objectives and stakeholder needs, as well as the promotion of innovation and creativity within the REG Group. I also explore new and improved methods and designs for utility products, processes, and services, focusing on renewable energy, grid stability, and demand management. Some of the projects I have initiated and managed include the development of a solar-powered irrigation system, the negotiation of power purchase agreements, and the evaluation of grid impact studies. I leverage my skills in renewable energy, project planning, and energy efficiency to deliver high-quality results that benefit the utility and the country. My work at Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), where i played a pivotal role in projects related to the Clean Development Mechanism and voluntary carbon markets, reflects my deep understanding of the complexities of international climate finance mechanisms.
