Ms. Patience Mutesi

Patience Mutesi is the Managing Director of BPR Bank Rwanda PLC since 01st February 2023. From July 2016 to January 2023, she was the Country Director for TradeMark Africa (TMA), an Aid-for-Trade Organization that aims at growing prosperity in East Africa through increased trade. Prior to that, Ms. Mutesi was the Head of Corporate Banking in Ecobank Rwanda, a Pan African Bank with a Network across 36 countries where she was a member of the Executive, Credit and Assets & Liabilities committees. She was also Ecobank Group’s Corporate Banking Cluster Head for EAC responsible for Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. She had a successful career in Banking and Micro Finance spanning 12 years in various strategic roles including Corporate, Strategy & Business Development. Ms. Mutesi served on the Boards of BPR Bank Rwanda PLC, MTN Rwandacell PLC and Rwanda Cooperation (RCI), and volunteers on the Advisory Council of One Acre Fund in Rwanda. She has deep networks within Rwanda's Private Sector, Government and Development Partners. Her expertise is in Trade Development and Finance in the areas of business analysis and strategic planning, credit structuring, relationship management, product development. Ms. Mutesi holds an MBA in Finance from Maastricht School of Management in Netherlands and a BSc. Honors in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University in Uganda. She is an Eisenhower Fellow and an alumni of the Swedish Institute Management Program. Born in Kenya, raised in Uganda and having moved to Rwanda in 2004, Ms. Mutesi considers herself a true East African. She is passionate about community, women empowerment, Regional Integration, family and travel. She is a wife and a mother of 2. She is a fluent speaker of English and Kinyarwanda, and has working knowledge of French & Swahili.
